CULTURE Chanel is “a collection of exhibitions”, a project started in 2007 that aims to trace the life of Gabrielle Chanel, through a chosen topic from time to time and hosted each time in different cities. Curated by Jean-Louis Froment, it offers the opportunity to look at a life so unique, from several perspectives that is still unpublished, and study the elements that have forged and that helped to fuel the myth of Chanel.

The next episode of CULTURE Chanel will be held in Venice, one of its main places of inspiration, and will focus on the passion for reading Coco. From classical antiquity, Homer, Plato, Virgil, Sophocles, Lucretius, up to Dante, Montaigne, Cervantes, Madame de Sevigne, Proust, Apollinaire, Mallarmé, but also the same people who frequented as Pierre Reverdy, Max Jacob and Jean Cocteau .

Besides the library, the exhibition will host works of art coming from the Parisian rue Cambon, along with jewelry, perfumes, paintings, drawings, manuscripts and inscriptions of the artists.

Gabrielle Chanel loved to read books have accompanied and sometimes led, her life more than anything else: “Books were her best friends,” confessed friend Paul Morand.
