LONDON FASHION WEEK – DAY FOUR/FIVE

SOPHIA WEBSTER

British accessories designer Sophia Webster founded her label in 2012 and is know for combining feminine design with a sophisticated approach. Her Aw18 collection titled ‘I Don’t Need Mango To Tango’ merges vibrancy, opulence and world of Latin dance.

The collection references to the one of Sophia’s favourite films of Baz Luhrmann ‘Strictly Ballroom’. This season is full of feathers, sequins and colour. We can admire laser cut ruffles on suede, embroidered textures as well as black lace panelling – all associated with Spanish Flamenco dresses. The presentation took place at Hotel Cafe Royal’s magnificent Pompadour Ballroom. Dazzling crystal encrusted products displayed in trophy cabinets and models posing on winner’s podiums reference to the Sophia’s youth when she danced competitevly at Blackpool Tower.

“The collection and show theme this season is very close to my heart as I grew up with competitive dancing. Dance costumes have to be made in striking colour combinations, sequins and crystals to attract the attention of judges, and all I loved bringing all this to life in AW18. There is endless inspiration to create a bold and spirited collection, which is at the same time sexy, feminine and wearable.” Sophia Webster
