A Phone Call to Azealia Banks

AB

The rapper – queen of twitter, known for her fierce attitude and mincing words – hit a telephone conversation with L’Officiel on life, future projects and experience in upcoming film COCO.

’O How is your life after the hit “212”?

“212” was something surreal in my career. I got to know the whole world, to introduce me to the biggest festivals, including a party of Chanel in the house of Karl Lagerfeld. Amazing!

’O Tell us a bit about your latest release, “Slay-Z”?

It’s a very honest work and high quality. “The Big Big Beat” and “Queen of Clubs” are my favorite.

’O What different in  “Fantasea” 2?

In “Fantasea” 1 creative process was different, I would say even a little confused, we recorded piece by piece. As for the “Fantasea” 2 am planning everything. The entire production is focused in New York and I’m working only with people of good taste and trust. I believe that everyone will like the result.

’O It is rumored that in addition to singer you will debut in film as the protagonist, how was that experience?

Working with the RZA was a lovely experience. We shot the entire film in 19 days. There were long hours, I was super tired … but when I saw the result I found amazing! The performances, photography … It was worth it.

’O In the film, you will live Coco – a young American rapper. We can say that you pretty much played their own story, how you feel about it?

It was like reliving the past, you know? Because I lived and felt everything in the skin. I think that made me more comfortable to embody the character.

-Filming concluded in June 2016. Release date yet to be confirmed
