July 14th ‘Bastille Day’ or ‘Le quatorze juillet’ is to France, is somewhat like Australia Day is to us. The fall of Bastille fortress marked the start of the French Revolution and the beginning of the modern Republic, ending the monarchy of King Louis XVI on that fateful day of July 14th 1789.
